and C D Sahay former Secretary, R&AW and Distinguished Fellow, VIF
visited Israel from August 27-30, 2013 at the invitation of Galilee

seminar.
The GIMI delegation was led by Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) Baruch Levy
and the Institute Director Joseph Shevel and included a range of experts
on strategic issues, Middle East and Gulf/ West Asian affairs. The VIF
delegation focused its formal presentations on the Security Scenario in
South and South East Asia, developments in Afghanistan and implications
of growth of Islamic fundamentalism/ global terrorism as well as
security and economic challenges in the Indian Ocean and Asia Pacific
regions.
Besides attending the seminar at the GIMI, the VIF delegation also
had extremely useful discussions with a team of professional at the
Center for Policy Research, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the
Director General, Ministry of International Affairs and Strategy in the
office of the Prime Minister. The discussions were extremely interesting
and informative.
It may be recalled that earlier in April 2013, a delegation of GIMI had paid a similar visit to VIF.
